To enter into
a creative dialogue with the director or a fellow performer, the
actor must have tools and processes with which to work in a concrete
way. Participants will learn the principles of alternating rhythm,
dynamic, tension, direction and focus through some of the exercises
developed and used over the past 30 years by directors such as
Jerzy Growtowski, Eugenio Barba and Ingemar Lindh and their individual
companies. The work involves heavy physical activity, and is not
recommended for those with back problems or fragile bodies. It
is 12 sessions conducted by B. Stanley and members of Theatre
Du Jour.
Ongoing
participation
Ongoing
participation is by invitation only and is voted on by the members
of the company.
The members
of Theater Du Jour maintain a regular working schedule that includes
even more of the training touched on in the workshops. After completing
the most basic workshops, individuals may request to be allowed
to participate in the group's personal work. These sessions are
often used to expand the number of exercises being used by the
actor and further develop the kung fu kata used by the company,
and are generally led or observed in part by B. Stanley.
